The Pak Millennium Conference 2006 Board thanks the Pakistani community and other attendees for your active participation in the conference sessions and thoughtful discussions on "Celebrating Pakistani Women: Their Lives and Struggles" on Saturday, April 29 at Tufts University.
The diverse and accomplished set of panelists, the quality of their presentations, the audience question-answers were all called first rate by many attendees.
Mukhtiar Bibi's (Mukhtaran Mai's) interview and Q&A session with Professor Adil Najam and the Keynote by Mr. Soomro, President of the Senate of Pakistan were two of the highlights of the day, in a day full of excellent talks on women and society, education, entrepreneurship, rural work, politics, justice, arts, culture, the public space. There were fascinating exchanges between Justice Fakhrunissa and Senator Soomro during the Q&A of his Keynote, and he listened intently with the audience to what Mukhtiar had to say.
We hope this conference will help inform the discussion in Pakistan and the Pakistani community on these critical issues and move both society and policy forward in directions that enable all individuals to contribute to their fullest to help build a just, caring society.
We plan to publish the conference report by the end of June, 2006 on this website. Please visit our website in near future to view the conference report.
Thank you all for coming, staying and engaging in the discussion. Please feel free to share your thoughts and ideas with us.
With Warmest Regards
Pak-Millennium Conference 2006 Board
